Weight Loss Mistakes That Men Make
Hi, this is Ivana and today I’m going to talk to you men about weight loss mistakes that you might be making.
One, why are you doing so much chest? When you go to the gym, you get those weights out, you start pressing and there’s a lot of chest action going on. Most guys tend to be obsessed with their chests. I’m not sure why. I’ve never spoken to a woman who said she really loved a guy’s chest and that was all she wanted. Basically, it’s not that important and it can actually cause you a lot of problems. If you do too much chest work, you’re going to end up with very poor posture, perhaps back pain and it’s not the most efficient use of your time. Unfortunately, the most effective way to actually get leaner is to focus on the lower body. So leg action, things like squats and dead lifts and lunges. The lower body work is actually gonna give you a lot more bang for your buck so if you’re in the gym and you’re doing weights, you really should be focusing on the lower body rather than what you think is the showy muscle up there in the chest.
Two, you’re underestimating your alcohol intake. So a lot of guys think “yeah, yeah. It’s cool. I have a few drinks here and there and whatever” or you have some at a business meeting, maybe at lunch, dinner. Then you have a few on the weekend when you’re watching a game or something like that and you actually end up underestimating how much you’re having and it’s not that it’s bad to have alcohol. I think you can incorporate it into your diet, but if you’re looking to get leaner and you want to lose a bit of weight, then you really need to keep a close eye on your alcohol intake because it’s plenty of calories that are pretty much empty. They’re not giving you any nutrition, but they’re just selling themselves generally around the mid-section.
And that brings us to our third point, overdoing the abs. No, doing tons and tons of crunches is not going to get you a flat stomach. It’s not gonna burn away the flab or whatever it is around there. It’s not gonna work. Unfortunately you need to get rid of that with all over body training and like I said focusing primarily on the legs because that’s going to burn a lot more calories on a day to day basis and you need to monitor your diet so you need to make sure you’re getting in enough protein, but you’re not overdoing the carbs in terms of breads, cereals and all that sort of stuff. You need to keep that quite limited as well. So crunching away at the gym is another way for you to give yourself back pain and it’s really not gonna give you anything visible in your stomach area.
So those are the biggest mistakes that I feel that men make. Maybe there are others that you’re making as well, but if you’re looking for some great guidance, I’ve got tons of videos here so check it out and I hope to see you next time.
